UPS Monitoring & Control Software

The functionality and resilience of today’s uninterruptible power supplies (UPS) can be increased by the installation of UPS Software, UPS Monitoring Software and UPS Control Software. It also makes financial sense, by helping to reduce operating costs.

What is UPS Software and why do I need it?

Uninterruptible power supplies – although happy to operate without software - are sophisticated microprocessor-controlled systems, capable of providing a range of alarm notifications and real-time information, which can be available at local, network and remote site locations.

Why does it make financial sense to install UPS software?

  • Lower operating costs - by monitoring and implementing responses remotely, clients can avoid sending an engineer to investigate every minor incident.

A key function of UPS Software is to monitor mains voltage, UPS load and battery charge. UPS Control Software allows remote interrogation of UPS logs and operating parameters to help diagnose alarms and faults.

  • UPS Monitoring Software provides an early warning of impending failure of peripheral parts of the power protection system such as batteries, fans and capacitors, so corrective action can be taken early when it’s more likely to be less costly.
  • UPS Monitoring Software is configurable and can be integrated with other building management systems to monitor a range of products that make up a power protection system including generators, air-conditioning and fire suppression equipment.
  • UPS software can remotely perform automated and controlled shutdowns of valuable hardware – negating the likelihood of damage in the event of a power failure leading to a system crash. It also frees personnel to perform other valuable tasks during power continuity incidents.

Why should I get my UPS software from a specialist UPS manufacturer and not a generic supplier?

There are companies that offer generic UPS monitoring and control software but at best it is a simple package offering LAN communication and basic logging and interrogation capabilities.

Riello UPS PowerNetGuard and TeleNetguard complement UPS installations to ensure power continuity for large and small businesses alike. The software has been designed to run on our machines and is sophisticated, fully-functioning and fully configurable. We ensure upgrades and updates are readily available. Our warranties also cover the software aspects of your installation – if it’s our software you are using, which also simplifies things in terms of you only having to deal with one supplier for the whole UPS system.

Solutions range from a simple USB connection into a small PC or PC network, to the most elaborate add-ons for cross platform communication and external management over the Internet. Power management can also be implemented using network cards and proxy agents (embedded web server, SNMP compatibility) providing a range of functions – including configuration of selected shutdowns and powering equipment and electrical points on or off.
